I’ve been seeing this video ad running in the USA network quite a bit lately. The ad is mostly pushing parts and accessories. “J Shia says when I need parts I can trust, I go to eBay Motors.”
Personally, I had a negative experience buying a NOS ignition tumbler assembly on the motors site a while back. The part was not for cars with a tilt steering wheel, and the seller did not disclose it in his listing. Tried messaging the seller asking if I could return it. He replied no returns as was stated in the listing. Filed a complaint with eBay and about a week later they sided with their seller. But a chargeback with my Visa did the trick. Used to be eBay sided with the buyer.
I like the Amphacar driving off into a lake at the end of the commercial! 😎
eBay Motors would have been the global go-to place for anything automotive by now. But as this site documents, corporate executives let scammers literally screw the site into the ground stealing Millions from car buyers. It was trustworthy used car sellers that built up the all-important “Trust and Community Values” that made selling big-ticket items work so well.
Whatever happened to the good old eBay days? I’m surprised the old gal is still online after the screwing both buyers and sellers suffered. This site was restored from a backup file a while back after the arrest of several presents and former employees that stalked eCommerce blogger Ina Steiner. eBay trolls went after me too because this website founded in 2004 warned consumers about car scams that were running rampant back in 2002-2006 on the newly launched eBay Motors Venue. The niche automotive website was losing it’s mojo and I got the boot. It was no longer profitable as scammers had screwed so many used car buyers it took many listing to sell a quality car and at that many front-line-ready cars just didn’t sell. And if they sold It was at a loss.
Many of us who hung out on the eBay motors forum provided the best support available but the house soon thereafter changed the forum rules and pretty much ran all the regulars off. Ina Steiner is presently suing eBay Inc for cyberstalking her and her husband. This vlog documents some of the harassment I endured by a group of eBay Influencers doing their best trying to convince me to shut this site down.
As I’ve said many times in the past. eBay INC could have owned the worldwide market for trading automobiles and parts. BUT! 😥
